Sydney Day2

Posted by dkgannon on October 3, 2011

Sydney is doing really well. She is still on IV fluids and is also feeding formula and breast milk as well. She ate 5ml till today at 11am when the Dr. upped her feeding to 15 ml which is about a half an ounce and by doing so she is getting less supplementation from the IV. They move her in her bed about every 3 hours to prevent the flat head. Here is a picture from this morning.

First Pics of Sydney

Posted by dkgannon on October 2, 2011

Made it up to see Sydney just awhile ago.  Her Glucose level was at 55 which is in the normal range.  She is resting comfortably.  I was able to change her diaper,  but no surprises yet. :D   Kerri will be up there later this evening and I think Sydney will start eating either tonight or in the morning.

Sydney is one of 24 babies that are currently in the NICU at Seton Medical Center Central, which can hold up to 50-60 premies.  The funny thing is that alot of the babies in the NICU were  born  betweeen 24-48 hrs ago.  They have been busy here!

Sydney is currently sporting a Mohawk so maybe I get to have a girl that is into sports because Paige is clearly into the dancing.  Paige was able to see the baby shortly after she was born since Nana and PaPa had to meet at the hospital due to Kerri basically going straight into the operating room.  I was wisked away less than 5 mins after arriving.

Kerri and I would like to thank everyone that has supported us over the last week and a half with meals, emotional support, and prayers.  Please keep the prayers up so Sydney can get home as quickly as possible.  Here are some of her first photos in the NICU.

Sydney Lynn Gannon

Posted by dkgannon on October 2, 2011

Sydney Lynn Gannon decided to make an early entrance for Kerri and I. Sydney was born on Sunday Morning October 2nd at 4:05 am via C section and weighed 4lbs. 9oz and 17 inches long. She is currently in the NICU and will be there for awhile since she was just shy of 34 weeks. Sydney and Kerri are doing well. Kerri was a trooper through the procedure and Sydney was a little difficult coming out because she was breached,   but everything turned out great.  I haven’t made it up to the NICU yet since the nurses are still on shift change. Pictures to come soon..

Gannon Baby #2 Update

Posted by dkgannon on October 1, 2011

Day 10 in the hospital on bed rest.  To be frankly honest bed rest is not fun.  There is not much to do in a small hospital room but surf the web, online shop, watch TV and read books and magazines.  Nurses are in and out all day checking vitals and making sure that I am ok and don’t need anything.  I have had visitors which has been nice as it breaks up the day.  Doug and Paige have been coming up every other day to visit which has been nice as well.

For those of you who don’t know my water broke on Thursday 9/22/11 which is early as I was only 32 weeks 4 day along.  My doctor transferred me to Seton downtown where they have a level 3 nursery and can handle babies delivered before 36 weeks if needed.  Last Monday I was moved out of Labor and Delivery to a room for those that are stable and on bed rest.   Since last Wednesday night I have been having contractions.  I am having about 3-4 strong contractions an hour.  Right now the Dr. and Nurses are monitoring me closely to make sure that nothing changes as they would like the little to stay put just a bit longer.  I am hoping that she can hold out for another week or two.

Other than this little surprise we are all doing well.  Doug and Paige are doing well at home and we are all waiting for the arrival of our new little one.

This past July we did not get to go see fireworks as most all the shows were cancelled here due to the dry weather conditions.  Paige did have fun swimming with her friend Korbin and going to the park with her friend Maddie.  Paige loves going to the park, swiming and just being outside.

Spring Time

Posted by dkgannon on June 25, 2011

Well this is a much needed update to our blog as a lot has happen since January.  Paige turned 2 years old June 1 and I can’t believe how quickly time has past.  At her 2yr check up she was 32 1/2 inches tall and weighted in at 25.14 lbs.  Paige has grown and changed so much in the past year.  Doug and I are amazed everyday at what she is learning.   She can count to 20 in English and to 10 in Spanish.  She loves signing her ABC; she has even learned a few yoga moves at school.  She loves to color, dance, play outside and watch movies.  She is putting together sentences and saying several 3 syllable words.  She does not like vegetables but will eat just about any fruit.  She loves bath time and watering my plants.   My mom is still keeping Paige two days a week, which Paige loves.  We are very excited to be heading toFloridain a few weeks as this will be Paige’s first time to really enjoy the beach.  As for Doug and I, I have taken a promotion at work as a Business Analyst and should start this new position the 2nd week of July.  Doug is still at the LCRA and enjoying it and has finally given up the Best Buy job.  We are looking forward to having our weekends free.   Here are a few pictures since January.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Posted by dkgannon on December 19, 2010

I have never written a Christmas letter and it has been awhile since the last post.  This will be my first attempt at a Christmas letter and to catch you up.

Eighteen months ago our lives changed forever.  June 1, 2009 we welcomed the birth of our baby girl, Paige Rachel Gannon.  As parents we could not be more happy and proud of our little girl.  What a year it has been.  Doug and I have learned so much about being parents and to slow down and enjoy the silly moments.  At Paige’s 18 month checkup the doctor was amazed at her progress with talking, eating and movement.  She is developing well.  She weighted in at 22.13 lbs and 31 inches tall.  Paige started daycare three days a week this year on 6/1/2010 and has learned so much, it is just amazing.  She has learned to sign several words such as please, thank you, more, milk and eat.  She has learned to count to 10 and is learning  her A B C’s.  Paige has also learned to make several animal sounds, her favorite is moo!

Paige’s personality is ever developing and as age two draws closer we are starting to get a glimpse of the “Terrible Twos”.  She is starting to become a little defiant and not wanting to listen.  Every now nad then she will have a little tantrum when things don’t go her way.  She likes her dolls and playing dress up.  She loves Sesame Street and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.  Anything starring the loveable Elmo and Abby she is interested in.

This year we took Paige on her very first camping trip to Inks Lake.  What a great family trip we had.  We can’t wait for the next trip.  Since my last post we took a trip to San Antonio.  Paige was invited to our friend’s son, Cooper’s 4th birthday party at Kiddy Park.  Paige has so much fun riding the carousal and playing with the other kiddos.  The day after the party we took our first trip the the San Antonio Zoo with the Deitch Family.  What a fun day!  Paige enjoyed looking at all the animals.  We returned home just in time to go trick or treating with the neighbors.  Paige was a little cow this year and loved her Elmo bucket.  She even tried to say trick or treat.  It was so cute.

We took Paige to see Santa again this year.  I was prepared for her to cry and now want to sit on his lap.  She was a bit unsure of him, but sat in his lap with no problem.  We got a really good picture.  We had a very small Christmas here this weekend with my parents and are looking forward to spending Christmas in Ennis.

Doug is still working at the LCRA.  He is in his 12th year there and still enjoying it.  I am in my 5th year at DHI Mortgage/DRHorton and enjoying it too.  We are looking forward to new challenges, experiences and what 2011 has in store for us.

May you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Until next year,  Love the Gannons – Doug, Kerri and Paige
